A large home-machine hoop, 160 × 260 mm (about 6.3 × 10.2 in) on Brother. It covers T-shirt fronts, tote bags, pillow covers and small jacket-back designs. Brand sizes differ more here than at 4 × 4 or 5 × 7, so check your field.

What fits in a 6 × 10 in hoop

Needs a bigger hoop
- 8 in (200 mm) quilt blocks, because the short side is only 160 mm
- Large jacket backs, which a retailer size chart puts in an 8 × 12 in (200 × 300 mm) hoop
- Designs taller than about 6.3 in (160 mm)
- Banner or table-runner designs longer than about 10 in (260 mm)
Good to know: Brother quotes 160 × 260 mm (6.3 × 10.2 in) for its 6 × 10 in field. Brother Philippines lists the NV880E as 260 × 160 mm, the same area written the other way round. Baby Lock's matching hoop is labeled 6¼ × 10¼ in (EF81) and its page gives no millimeter value. That converts to roughly 159 × 260 mm. Other sources label hoops differently. Sweet Pea warns that a 150 × 240 mm hoop is sometimes sold as 6 × 10 but cannot stitch a true 160 × 260 mm design. Kimberbell lists a 6 × 10 sewing field of 5.7 × 9.45 in (145 × 240 mm). Singer's SE300 and SE340 large hoop is 10¼ × 6 in (260 × 150 mm), 10 mm shorter than Brother's. Husqvarna Viking's Crown hoop is 260 × 200 mm and its Mega Endless hoop is 260 × 150 mm. Janome's regular Memory Craft hoops are different sizes, such as 140 × 200 mm, 170 × 200 mm and 200 × 200 mm. The field is landscape, 260 mm wide by 160 mm tall. A portrait design 150 mm wide by 240 mm tall only fits once it is rotated 90 degrees.
