Poolin EOC06: hoop size, file formats and specs

Also written: EOC-06, EOC 06

Embroidery-only machine from Poolin with a 7.9 × 11 in (200 × 280 mm) field, 156 built-in designs and a top speed of 860 stitches per minute. It loads DST and DSB files by USB. The field is large for a home machine, but there is no cap frame and no sewing.

The Poolin EOC06 is a embroidery-only machine with a 8 × 11 in (200 × 280 mm) embroidery field. It reads .DST, .DSB files and gets designs by USB stick, and has 156 built-in designs and 8 lettering fonts.

EOC06 hoop size and embroidery area

The EOC06 can stitch a design up to 8 × 11 in (200 × 280 mm) in one hooping, which is the 8 × 11 in size. That is the field limit: a larger hoop from another maker will not let it stitch a bigger area.

In the box: 5.5" × 5.5" hoop (2 sets) (5.5 × 5.5 in (140 × 140 mm)), 7.87" × 7.87" hoop (8 × 8 in (200 × 200 mm)), 7.87" × 11" hoop (8 × 11 in (200 × 280 mm)).

Fits in one hooping at typical size: left chest, full front, pocket, sleeve, beanie, towel, baby onesie, baby bib, tote bag, pillow cover, quilt block, patch.

Who the EOC06 is for

A home or small-business embroiderer who wants a large 7.9 × 11 in field on a single machine. Skip it if you need finished hats, a machine that also sews, or PES files without converting them first.

Strengths

  • 7.9 × 11 in (200 × 280 mm) field, more than twice the stitch area of a 5 × 7 in (130 × 180 mm) field
  • Three hoops in the bundle: 5.5 × 5.5 in (2 sets), 7.87 × 7.87 in and 7.87 × 11 in
  • Listed top speed of 860 stitches per minute
  • 156 built-in designs and 8 lettering fonts, with a 7-inch color touchscreen and automatic needle threading, bobbin winding and thread trimming
  • Dealer pages list compatibility with Wilcom, Hatch and Embrilliance for preparing your own designs

Limits

  • Dealer pages list only DST and DSB files, so PES, JEF and similar files need converting first
  • No cap frame is listed and all three hoops are flat, so it is not set up for finished hats
  • Embroidery only, with no sewing functions
  • Wi-Fi is mentioned on dealer pages but its use is not described, so USB is the only confirmed way to load designs

Good to know: These specs come from a US dealer's product pages (Swing Design) that carry Poolin's spec text, because Poolin's own pages could not be opened. Check them against the Poolin manual before you rely on them. The dealer gives the largest area as 7.9 × 11 in, and once as 7.9 × 11.2 in; this file uses the 200 × 280 mm size of the largest hoop. The pages give no needle count, so one needle is assumed for this home-class embroidery-only machine. Pages say the 'newest Poolin model' has Wi-Fi and an upgraded touchscreen, but give no detail, so only USB is listed as a transfer method. The dealer's shipping weight for the bundle is 40 lb; that is not the weight of the machine itself. Swing Design's collection page calls the EOC06 an upgraded version of the EOC05 (4 × 9.2 in field); that is dealer wording, not a maker statement that it replaces the EOC05. The bundle price depends on the accessories included, such as thread and design packs.

Frequently asked questions

What file format does the Poolin EOC06 use?

The dealer pages list DST and DSB files, loaded from a USB drive. They also list compatibility with Wilcom, Hatch and Embrilliance. Designs in other formats, such as PES or JEF, need converting first.

What hoop sizes come with the Poolin EOC06?

Three sizes come in the bundle: 5.5 × 5.5 in (140 × 140 mm, two sets), 7.87 × 7.87 in (200 × 200 mm) and 7.87 × 11 in (200 × 280 mm). The largest one matches the full 7.9 × 11 in embroidery field.

Is there a magnetic hoop for the Poolin EOC06?

The pages we checked list only three flat hoops and no magnetic hoop. We could not confirm which magnetic hoops fit the EOC06, so check the seller's compatibility note and the 7.87 × 11 in (200 × 280 mm) size before you buy.

Can the Poolin EOC06 embroider hats?

No cap frame is listed for it, and all three hoops are flat. The dealer copy names beanies as a use, but without a cap frame the machine is not set up for finished caps.

How does the Poolin EOC06 compare with the Brother PE900?

The EOC06 has the larger field, 7.9 × 11 in (200 × 280 mm) against 5 × 7 in (130 × 180 mm), and a higher listed top speed, 860 against 650 stitches per minute. The PE900 has more built-in designs (193 against 156) and works with Brother's Artspira app, and it reads PES files, while the EOC06 pages list DST and DSB.
