The Designer Topaz 50 can stitch a design up to 14 × 8 in (360 × 200 mm) in one hooping, which is the 8 × 14 in size. That is the field limit: a larger hoop from another maker will not let it stitch a bigger area.

Who the Designer Topaz 50 is for

For sewers who want a mid-size 14.2 × 7.9 in embroidery area and a roomy sewing space in one machine, and who can find one at a dealer. Skip it if you want Wi-Fi, a bigger screen, a cap frame or a machine you can count on buying new.

Good to know: Husqvarna Viking's spec page gives the embroidery area as 360 × 200 mm and names the Royal hoop as the largest hoop, so field matches that hoop. Husqvarna Viking's page does not list the file formats the machine reads, and the owner's manual could not be opened for this guide, so formats lists only .vp3, Husqvarna Viking's own format; other formats such as .hus, .shv and .vip are likely but unconfirmed here. Check the manual before buying designs in other formats. Husqvarna Viking's page lists no weight, so it is left blank. Status: the maker's page (now on singer.com) shows the machine as sold out with back-orders on no set date, and a US dealer page says it is discontinued and has been replaced by the Topaz 55Q. No maker page confirming the replacement was found and the 55Q is not in this guide, so replacedBy is left blank and no price range is shown. The Jewel hoop II (240 × 150 mm) page lists the "TOPAZ series" but does not name the Topaz 50, so it is left out of the hoop list. Husqvarna Viking sells a Hat Hoop accessory that attaches to the 180 × 130 mm metal hoop and lists the Topaz 50 as compatible; it is not described as a cap frame or cap driver, so capFrame is false.
