bernette b70 DECO: hoop size, file formats and specs
Also written: bernette 70 DECO, b70 DECO, B70 DECO, bernette b70, bernette 70 deco embroidery machine
bernette's embroidery-only machine with a large 10.2 × 6.3 in (260 × 160 mm) field, 208 built-in designs, 7 alphabets and a 5-inch touchscreen. Designs load by USB only, and it has no Wi-Fi, no sewing stitches and no cap frame.
The bernette b70 DECO is a embroidery-only machine with a 10 × 6 in (260 × 160 mm) embroidery field. It reads .VP3, .VIP, .PEC, .HUS, .DST, .EXP, .JEF, .PES files and gets designs by USB stick, and has 208 built-in designs and 7 lettering fonts.
b70 DECO hoop size and embroidery area
The b70 DECO can stitch a design up to 10 × 6 in (260 × 160 mm) in one hooping, which is the 6 × 10 in size. That is the field limit: a larger hoop from another maker will not let it stitch a bigger area.
In the box: Large hoop (about 10.2" × 6.3") (10 × 6 in (260 × 160 mm)), Medium hoop (about 7.1" × 4.7") (7 × 4.7 in (180 × 120 mm)), Small hoop (about 2.8" × 2.0") (2.8 × 2 in (70 × 50 mm)).
Fits in one hooping at typical size: left chest, pocket, sleeve, beanie, towel, baby onesie, baby bib, tote bag, pillow cover, quilt block, patch.

Who the b70 DECO is for
A fit for someone who already sews on another machine and wants a dedicated embroidery machine with a roomy 10 × 6 in field and an on-screen editor. Skip it if you want one machine that also sews (look at the b79), need Wi-Fi, or want to embroider finished hats.
Strengths
- Large 10.2 × 6.3 in (260 × 160 mm) embroidery field, so bigger designs stitch out in one hooping
- Three hoops in the manual's supplied accessories: 260 × 160, 180 × 120 and 70 × 50 mm, each with an embroidery template, and the machine detects which one is attached
- 208 built-in embroidery designs and 7 embroidery alphabets, with on-screen editing such as rotate, mirror, scale and combine
- Embroiders at up to 850 stitches per minute, with an automatic thread cutter and upper and lower thread sensors
- Reads VP3, VIP, PEC, HUS, DST, EXP, JEF and PES files from a USB flash drive
Limits
- Embroidery only: it has no sewing stitches, so it cannot sew a seam or a buttonhole
- USB only, with no Wi-Fi and no companion app listed, and bernette's manual calls the USB stick an optional accessory
- Single needle, so you change the thread by hand for every color
- No cap frame is listed in the manual or on the product page, so it is not set up for finished hats
Good to know: bernette gives the embroidery area as 260 × 160 mm (10.2 × 6.3 in) and lists its hoops as height × width (160 × 260, 120 × 180, 50 × 70 mm), so they are entered here as 260 × 160, 180 × 120 and 70 × 50 wide by tall. bernette's model page files the S, M and L hoops under compatible accessories, while the manual's included-accessories list and a US dealer both say three hoops come with the machine; the sizes are the same either way. The file-format list comes from bernette's brochure; the manual says to convert other formats with its free embroidery software and does not list formats itself. bernette's b79 page adds ZHS to its list, but the b70 DECO brochure does not. Weight is the machine alone at 8.14 kg; the embroidery module adds 3.65 kg. bernette also lists a Snap Hoop Monster magnetic hoop and a CutWork Tool as accessories for its machines; the model page gives no stitch area for the magnetic hoop, so it is not listed with the hoops here. bernette gives no launch date for the b70 DECO. The b79 has the same embroidery area, designs, alphabets and speed and adds sewing.
