The Designer Ruby 90 can stitch a design up to 14 × 13.8 in (360 × 350 mm) in one hooping, which is the 9.5 × 14 in size. That is the field limit: a larger hoop from another maker will not let it stitch a bigger area.

Who the Designer Ruby 90 is for

Embroiderers and quilters who want one single-needle machine for sewing and for large designs, up to 14¼ × 13¾ in with the optional Majestic hoop. Skip it if you mostly stitch small designs, want multi-needle production speed, or need a machine near the price of a typical home combo.

Limits

  • Husqvarna Viking lists no cap frame for it, and it sits at a five-figure price far above entry-level combos

Good to know: Hoop sizes are written width × height as the hoop is attached, as Husqvarna Viking lists them. Husqvarna Viking's pages give 360 × 350 mm as the largest hoop size, and the manual names the Majestic hoop at that size as a turnable hoop; that is the hoop used for the field value here. The manual also mentions endless, texture and metal specialty hoops in its hoop list without sizes, so they are not listed. The manual says almost 800 designs are in memory, while Husqvarna Viking's spec page counts 651 built-in embroidery designs; this page uses 651. The 1,000 stitches per minute embroidery speed comes from the spec page; the manual lists 1,050 stitches per minute as the maximum sewing speed. The manual's file list also shows a .10* type, which cannot be written as a single format here, plus .sh7 stitch files, .vf3 font files and .jos project files. A design combination can hold roughly 500,000 stitches. The machine is sold new on Husqvarna Viking's store and through dealers; one US dealer page lists it as available in-store only with no online price. The price range is the maker's store price only, so ask a dealer for a current quote.
