Pfaff's high-end sewing and embroidery combo with a 360 × 350 mm (14.2 × 13.8 in) embroidery area, 873 built-in designs, 806 stitches, a 10.1 in touchscreen and mySewnet Wi-Fi. Four hoops come in the box. It is single-needle, sold through dealers, and costs far more than most home combos.

The Pfaff creative icon 2 is a sewing and embroidery machine with a 14 × 13.8 in (360 × 350 mm) embroidery field. It reads .VP3 files and gets designs by USB stick or Wi-Fi, and has 873 built-in designs and 8 lettering fonts.

The creative icon 2 can stitch a design up to 14 × 13.8 in (360 × 350 mm) in one hooping, which is the 9.5 × 14 in size. That is the field limit: a larger hoop from another maker will not let it stitch a bigger area.

What file format does the creative icon 2 use?

The creative icon 2 reads .VP3 files. You load designs by USB stick or Wi-Fi, and the mySewnet app works with it. Designs in other formats (for example .JEF or .EXP) need converting first with embroidery software.

Who the creative icon 2 is for

For serious home embroiderers and quilters who want a very large single-hooping area and a big touchscreen, and who are ready to pay a high price. Skip it if you stitch mostly small designs, need a cap frame or want a multi-needle machine for production.

Good to know: Pfaff's spec page gives the embroidery area as 350 × 360 mm (13.8 × 14.2 in) and the included Grand Dream hoop as 360 × 350 mm; this guide uses 360 × 350 mm (width × height), as Pfaff writes its hoops. Pfaff's pages do not list the file formats the machine reads, and the owner's manual could not be opened for this guide, so formats lists only .vp3, Pfaff's own format. The creative icon (the first model) manual lists many more formats, and third-party sources suggest .vp4 for this model, but none of that is confirmed here; check the manual before buying designs in other formats. The 1,050 stitches per minute on Pfaff's page is the sewing speed, so embroidery speed is left blank. Pfaff's page lists no weight; the 30.9 lb figure comes from a US dealer page. Pfaff's page counts "800+" stitches and cites 806 unique stitches in its text; 806 is used. The Pfaff store page lists the machine as a store exclusive with back-orders on no set date and a US dealer listed it in stock, so it is treated as current. The newer creative icon 3 is sold beside it and Pfaff's pages do not say it replaces the icon 2, so no replacement is set. A dealer page says the machine receives free automatic software updates over Wi-Fi; Pfaff's own page says mySewnet connectivity and Wi-Fi, but gives no firmware steps.
