Also written: BLMVE, Babylock Vesta, Baby Lock Vesta BLMVE
Baby Lock's single-needle sewing and embroidery combo with a large 6-1/4 × 10-1/4 in (160 × 260 mm) field, 293 built-in designs, 301 stitches and Wi-Fi design transfer. It reads PES, PHC and DST files. Baby Lock lists no cap frame and no phone app.
The Baby Lock Vesta is a sewing and embroidery machine with a 6 × 10 in (160 × 260 mm) embroidery field. It reads .PES, .PHC, .DST files and gets designs by USB stick or Wi-Fi, and has 293 built-in designs and 14 lettering fonts.
Vesta hoop size and embroidery area
The Vesta can stitch a design up to 6 × 10 in (160 × 260 mm) in one hooping, which is the 6 × 10 in size. That is the field limit: a larger hoop from another maker will not let it stitch a bigger area.
In the box: 6-1/4 × 10-1/4 in hoop (extra large) (6 × 10 in (160 × 260 mm)), 5 × 7 in hoop (large) (5 × 7 in (130 × 180 mm)).
Optional from Baby Lock: 4 × 4 in hoop (medium) (4 × 4 in (100 × 100 mm)), 1 × 2-1/2 in hoop (small) (2.4 × 0.8 in (60 × 20 mm)), 4 × 7 in border frame (4 × 7 in (100 × 180 mm)), 6 × 6 in square frame (5.9 × 5.9 in (150 × 150 mm)), 5 × 7 in magnetic frame (5 × 7 in (130 × 180 mm)).
Fits in one hooping at typical size: left chest, pocket, sleeve, beanie, towel, baby onesie, baby bib, tote bag, pillow cover, quilt block, patch.

What file format does the Vesta use?
The Vesta reads .PES, .PHC and .DST files. You load designs by USB stick or Wi-Fi. Designs in other formats (for example .JEF or .EXP) need converting first with embroidery software.

Who the Vesta is for
A sewer who wants one machine that sews and embroiders designs bigger than 5 × 7 in, with wireless transfer from a PC. Skip it if you want finished hats, a phone app or automatic color changes.
Strengths
- 6-1/4 × 10-1/4 in (160 × 260 mm) field, so many larger designs stitch without re-hooping
- Two hoops in the box, 6-1/4 × 10-1/4 in and 5 × 7 in (130 × 180 mm), plus 13 presser feet
- Sews and embroiders: 301 built-in stitches, 293 built-in embroidery designs and 14 embroidery fonts
- Wi-Fi sends designs from a PC with Design Database Transfer, and a USB port also works
- Embroiders at up to 850 stitches per minute and has an advanced needle threader you can work with one hand
Limits
- Single needle, so you change the thread by hand for every color
- Baby Lock lists no cap frame, so it is not set up for finished hats
- Reads only .pes, .phc and .dst files, and Baby Lock lists no phone app
- Heavy to move: about 22 lb (10 kg) on its own and about 30 lb (13.5 kg) with the embroidery unit attached
Good to know: Baby Lock's manual gives hoop sizes as height × width (for example 26 × 16 cm), so the 6-1/4 × 10-1/4 in hoop is 160 mm wide by 260 mm tall as attached. The manual caps the embroidery pattern size at the same 26 × 16 cm. The two hoops in the box are the 6-1/4 × 10-1/4 in and the 5 × 7 in; the 4 × 4 in, 1 × 2-1/2 in, 4 × 7 in border, 6 × 6 in square and 5 × 7 in magnetic frames are optional, per the manual and Baby Lock's accessory list. Baby Lock also lists an optional embroidery foot with an LED pointer, an extension table and a spool stand. The 22 lb weight is the machine alone; the manual gives about 30 lb with the embroidery unit attached. Baby Lock covers the machine with a 25-year limited warranty. Baby Lock publishes no screen size, release year, cap frame or phone app for the Vesta. Its manual calls the screen a touch panel; Baby Lock does not say "color screen", but the manual describes thread colors and background colors on it. Baby Lock's own site shows a manufacturer price; dealers often show a higher crossed-out regular price.
