Brother SE725: hoop size, file formats and specs
Also written: SE-725, SE 725
The Walmart-exclusive version of the Brother SE700. It has the same 4 × 4 in (100 × 100 mm) embroidery field, 135 built-in designs, 103 sewing stitches and Wi-Fi, plus an offer of 50 free designs through Artspira. Designs bigger than 4 × 4 in will not fit.
The Brother SE725 is a sewing and embroidery machine with a 4 × 4 in (100 × 100 mm) embroidery field. It reads .PES, .PHC, .DST, .PEN files and gets designs by USB stick or Wi-Fi, and has 135 built-in designs and 10 lettering fonts.
SE725 hoop size and embroidery area
The SE725 can stitch a design up to 4 × 4 in (100 × 100 mm) in one hooping, which is the 4 × 4 in size. That is the field limit: a larger hoop from another maker will not let it stitch a bigger area.
In the box: 4" × 4" hoop (medium) (4 × 4 in (100 × 100 mm)).
Optional from Brother: 4" × 4" magnetic hoop (4 × 4 in (100 × 100 mm)), Small frame (about 1" × 2.5") (2.4 × 0.8 in (60 × 20 mm)).

What file format does the SE725 use?
The SE725 reads .PES, .PHC, .DST and .PEN files. You load designs by USB stick or Wi-Fi, and the Artspira app works with it. Designs in other formats (for example .JEF or .EXP) need converting first with embroidery software.

Who the SE725 is for
A good fit for beginners who want sewing and small embroidery in one machine and like the free-design offer. Skip it if you need designs bigger than 4 × 4 in.
Strengths
- Same 4 × 4 in (100 × 100 mm) field, 135 designs and 103 stitches as the SE700
- Brother's page lists 50 free downloadable designs (needs firmware 1.51 or later and the Artspira app)
- Reads .pes, .phc, .dst and .pen design files from a USB flash drive or over Wi-Fi
- Wi-Fi sends designs from a PC with Brother's free Design Database Transfer software
- A 4 × 4 in hoop and eight presser feet come in the box
Limits
- The embroidery field is only 4 × 4 in (100 × 100 mm), and Brother lists no larger hoop for it
- Embroidery speed tops out at 400 stitches per minute
- Brother markets it as a Walmart exclusive, so it is mainly a one-store model
- Brother lists no cap frame for it, so it is not set up for finished hats
Good to know: Brother's SE725 support page links the same operation manual as the SE700, and that manual lists SE700, SE725 and LB5500 together, so the embroidery size, speed and file formats here come from that shared manual. The free designs need a firmware update (1.51 or later) done from a USB flash drive, which is not included. Brother US gives the screen as 3.2 × 1.8 in (width × height), which works out to about 3.7 in across. The small optional frame (about 1 × 2.5 in) is listed in the shared manual.
